OnePlus is set to launch a new variant of its latest flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 11, that features a never-before-seen material. The announcement was made by OnePlus China president Li Jie on Weibo, where he teased that the new variant will be made with “unprecedented materials and craftsmanship,” making each phone unique. The accompanying image featured the OnePlus 11 superimposed on Jupiter, hinting at the possibility of a material that reflects the planet’s beauty and grandeur.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the material has never been used in the industry before and feels cool to the touch, with each phone having a different texture. Some speculate that the material could be marble, which fits the bill of a material that hasn’t been used in the smartphone industry before and has a natural texture.

However, OnePlus has now officially announced that the new variant, called the OnePlus 11 Jupiter Rock Limited Edition, will use a material called 3D microcrystalline rock. This material has never been used in the 3C industry before and requires a brand-new production line to be developed from scratch. Due to its high processing difficulty, the production efficiency is only 1/4 of glass, with a yield rate of only 1/2 of glass.

To ensure the maximum exposure of Jupiter’s beauty, the OnePlus team developed nine major processes, including “natural pattern formation,” to meet the product requirements. Each back cover is manually selected to ensure the beauty of the texture, making each phone unique.

The OnePlus 11 Jupiter Rock Limited Edition is set to launch on March 29th, and fans are eager to get their hands on this unique smartphone. It will be interesting to see how this new material performs in terms of durability and practicality.
