Design & Build
The Pova 5 Pro 5G greets you with a cyber-inspired 3D textured design that’s an immediate head-turner. Despite being made to look like glass, it adds a sense of luxury to the device.
The LED light effects – dubbed Arc Interface by TECNO – are a unique touch, glowing in sync with music, calls, and notifications.
The glass back, complemented by chrome side rails, does seem to be a fingerprint magnet, but that’s a common trait for glossy finishes. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is seamlessly integrated into the power button, ensuring quick access without compromising aesthetics.
On firing up the device, we’re greeted by a 6.78-inch FHD+ LCD panel. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.
The display is crisp and vibrant, making it suitable for media consumption, though its visibility under direct sunlight might be a potential area of concern.
Hardware & Performance
The heart of the Pova 5 Pro 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, coupled with 8GB of RAM. This setup promises efficient multitasking and gaming experiences. Initial interactions were smooth, but rigorous testing in varying scenarios will determine its true mettle.
TECNO seems to be prioritizing camera performance. The 50MP main sensor at the back captures detailed images, while the AI camera adds depth and other features.
The 16MP front shooter promises good selfies, with the samples appearing sharp and well-saturated during our initial tests.
Battery & Charging
The phone comes with a beefy 5,000mAh battery, which, when combined with the 68W fast charging, guarantees a day’s worth of usage with ease. The added bypass charging feature while gaming, which aims to extend battery life and minimize heat, is a commendable touch.
Sound & Audio
With dual-stereo speakers that come with Hi-Res Audio and DTS certified, the audio experience is expected to be immersive.
The presence of a 3.5mm jack also ensures that wired audio enthusiasts aren’t left out.
Running on Android 13 with TECNO’s HiOS 13 on top, the software experience feels intuitive. The blend of Android’s fluidity and HiOS’s features promises an enjoyable user experience.
At first glance, the TECNO Pova 5 Pro 5G is shaping up to be a formidable contender in its price range. With its unique design elements, promising hardware, and thoughtful features, it stands out in a crowded market. However, a detailed review will shed more light on its true potential. Stay tuned for a deeper dive into this device’s capabilities in the coming days.
