Back in January this year, Xiaomi filed a design patent with CNIPA for a new 5G smartphone with a single AI camera. Now CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) has published 38 pictures of the device along with documentation.
The futuristic smartphone from Xiaomi features a full-round display on the front. It looks very similar to Mi MIX Alpha from the front. On the sides, there’s no room for the physical buttons though. The power button and microphone are placed at the top while the bottom will house dual speakers and USB Type-C port. At the back, there’s a secondary display placed under the camera panel.
The camera panel seems very interesting as it only has a single lens. According to the renders, the device will have a 108MP AI Super Camera. The smartphone will have two different variants; one with a normal back panel and another with a transparent panel where the camera system will be visible. There’s no front-facing camera so the primary camera will be used to take the selfies. As there’s a secondary display at the back so taking selfies will not be a problem.
If we take a look at the upper picture closely we can see some texts written on the left side of the camera panel which says “Always believe something wonderful is about to happen”. The inner panel also shows that the device will have 5G Modem IVY 650 as well as an Ai GPU.
