Finally, an app developer SuperThomasLab has released an app ‘Fingerprint Gestures,’ on Google Play, which solves this issue. With this app, you’ll be able to configure tapping, double-tapping, or swiping on your device’s fingerprint reader to perform an array of functions. The app allows you to do other stuff such as check your recent apps, opening quick settings, media controls, opening an app, switch on the torch light and so on.

However, to use this app, you must have a device running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, there are few features such as scrolling and activating sleep mode which requires root access. And, Nougat users can also toggle split screen mode with any of the gestures (root not required). You can download the app directly from the Google Play and experience the Pixel features on your smartphone.
