There are a few drawbacks of using iPhone against any Android phone. Two of the key drawbacks are non-availability of dual SIM support and expandable storage. USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) granted Apple patent for dual SIM tech, so it seems that Apple will soon integrate dual SIM support in iPhones.

The patent shows how this technology enables the use of 2 SIM cards on a mobile device and how the device settles SIM priority. It further explains in brief about apparatus, System and methods of controlling access.

One SIM can be prioritized for phone calls while the other is given priority in using data. Thus two SIMs can be utilized simultaneously and more efficiently.

However, it should be noted that receiving a patent does not imply that Apple will have to integrate this technology or Apple will integrate this technology. A document filed with China’s State Intellectual Property Office conveys that there will be dual SIM cards for iPhone.
