Nokia upcoming Android smartphones to be made in “close partnership” with Google

Yesterday, HMD officially took the license to use Nokia brand name for the next 10 years to release Android-powered devices. Many leaders of HMD had long stints at Nokia.

In the meanwhile, Google has plenty inputs for new devices. Considering how well the Pixel devices were accepted, it seems that the Nokia brand will be successful in penetrating the market once again.

HMD President Florian Seiche said:

“We are not going to skip any markets in the long term.”

Arto Nummela, HMD CEO was quoted as:

“We want to be one of the key competitive players in the smartphone business. We will be extremely true to the Nokia brand,” “The Nokia brand is known for simplicity, ease of use, reliability, and quality. These are the elements that we will deliver together with amazing industrial design.”

Terms like “Simplicity” and “Ease of use” convey that there will be no heavy meddling with Android like MIUI and company pull offs.

It seems that we will get some light modifications over AOSP like that of Nokia Z Launcher and Google Apps.
