Gartner reports Apple tops smartphone market in Q4 2016, Blackberry OS market share reduced to 0.0%

Gartner, a market research company, has announced its smartphone analytics for Q4 2016. According to those numbers, Apple holds the top position in the market with 17.9% share which is 0.2% higher than its previous year in the same quarter. However, the rival of Apple, Samsung has dropped down to second position claiming 17.8% of market share.

These numbers are 2.9 percent lower than which the South Korean company claimed in Q4 2016. Other than these, the Chinese smartphone makers like Huawei, Oppo, and BBK joined the top five list by occupying 9.5%, 6.2% and 5.6% of market share, respectively. However, for the whole year, Samsung claimed the top spot pushing its rival, Apple to second place.

When it comes to Operating System, Android dominates the market with a share of 81.7 percent. The share of Apple’s iOS is 17.9% which is 0.2% higher than last year figures. Whereas the market share of Windows Phone is decreased from 1.3% to 0.3% and sadly, the BlackBerry OS now settles with 0.0%.
