After a long time, Xiaomi has finally released the Android 7.0 update for Mi 5 but only the Developer version. This China Developer ROM is based on MIUI 8 with version no 6.12.8. If you are using China Developer ROM then you will get the update through OTA. If you are using Stable ROM then you have to Wipe Data and flash the ROM via Fastboot.
Known issues
1) You might get WiFi problem showing “Cannot connect to network” error. For Temporary solution: first Go to ‘Settings’, and then disable “Switch between data and WLAN”. Then everything will work fine.
2) Data cannot be enabled in very rare cases.
The ROM package size is around 1.3GB. There are a lot of changes in this ROM especially most of the Bugs have been fixed but the UI is still same. If you are a Mi 5 user then download the Android 7.0 Nougat powered MIUI 8 on your device soon.
