Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660 chipsets

As expected, Qualcomm has finally announced their two latest mobile processors Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660. Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is the successor of Snapdragon 653 while the Snapdragon 630 is the successor of Snapdragon 626.

Snapdragon 630 is built on 14nm technology and features Octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz. The CPU is 10% faster than the previous generation Snapdragon 626 while the GPU Adreno 508 is 30% faster compared to the Adreno 506. The processor has support for X12 LTE modem, Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP (24MP single camera and 13MP Dual camera), 8GB memory, Qualcomm Clear Sight camera, Wi-Fi 802.11ac Wave 2, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, Bluetooth 5, SBAS, USB 3.1, 4K video capture at 30fps, 1080p Display, Qualcomm All-Ways Aware, Optical Zoom, Zero Shutter Lag, Hexagon 680 DSP, and QuickCharge 4.0.

The Snapdragon 660 is built on 14nm FinFET process technology and features Octa-core Kryo 260 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz. The CPU is 20% faster than the predecessor Snapdragon 653 while the GPU Adreno 512 is faster compared to Adreno 510. The chipset supports latest X12 LTE modem, Wi-Fi 802.11ac Wave 2, 2×2 MIMO, GLONASS, Bluetooth 5, QHD Display, 8GB memory, Qualcomm Clear Sight camera, Hexagon 680 DSP, Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP (24MP single camera and 16MP Dual camera), 4K video capture at 30fps, Qualcomm All-Ways Aware, Qualcomm TruSignal adaptive antenna tuning, USB 3.1, QuickCharge 4.0.

Snapdragon 660 is now available to the consumers while the Snapdragon 630 will be available by the end of May. The 630 powered GPUs will be available from Q3 this year.
