MediaTek announces Deca-core Helio x23 and x27 chipsets

MediaTek has now added its deca-core lineup – the Helio X23 and X27 chipsets in its portfolio. The recently announced 10nm technology powered Helio X30 chipset also fits into the existing family of X20 and X25 chipsets nicely. It will surely be used in a handful of affordable devices, next year.

Helio X23 and X27 chipsets are 20nm technology powered Tri-Cluster Deca-Core chipsets. Helio X23 is equipped with 2 Cortex-A72 processors clocked at 2.3GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.85GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 processors clocked at 1.4GHz.

Similarly, Helio X27 is powered by 2 Cortex-A72 processors clocked at 2.6GHz, 4 Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2.00GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 processors clocked at 1.6GHz.

As far as GPU is concerned, both Helio X23 and Helio X27 come with ARM Mali-T880 GPU clocked at 780MHz in the X23 and 875MHz in the X27.

Both Helio X23 and Helio X27 chipset supports WQXGA 2560 x 1600 pixel resolutions at 60fps and 1920 x 1080 pixels at 120fps with 12HZ Blending layers. Mediatek introduces EnergySmart Screen power saving technology and Envelope Tracking Module, which are expected to increase power efficiency by 25% and 15% respectively.

Both the chipsets support up to 4GB of RAM. Other supports include that of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, Beidu, and FM.

As far as the camera department is concerned, Imagiq ISP technology is newly integrated which will bring color, mono, and depth-of-field implementations into a single package. Further, it comes with dual camera setups support as well.

Jeffrey Ju, Executive Vice President and Co-Chief Operating Officer of MediaTek is quoted as:
