With the updated 2017 version of the Android operating system still a few months away from its official launch, it seems like Huawei is not interested at all in wasting their time as we see leaked images of the Huawei Mate 9 running what is supposed to be a test version of the Android O.

Even though the Android O update is still in its development phase, we can see expected features like “picture-on-picture” already working in the leaked images. The Android O update is featured with the EMUI v5.1 update as seen from the images and the ROM update was found by a senior XDA member.

Even though the latest Huawei P10 is already running on the EMUI v5.1, it seems like this won’t be the final version of the custom user interface from Huawei.

This EMUI v5.1 ROM is only for the Chinese variant of the Huawei P9 and is not at all suitable for daily use as there are several bugs and issues. The ROM is pre-rooted with the help of SELinux.

Talking about Android O, we do know some of the features of Android O. The update is still under development and we still don’t know what the “O” stands for.
